Patrick Orson

I am an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Cal Poly.

My research is in the field of geometric topology. I work on questions related to low-dimensional topology - I am particularly interested in the topology of 4-manifolds, knot theory, and knot concordance.

More about me

I am originally from Winchester in the UK. I completed my undergraduate and masters degrees at the University of Cambridge. I received my PhD from the University of Edinburgh as a student of Andrew Ranicki.

I have previously held positions at Durham University, the CIRGET lab at the Université du Québec à Montréal, Boston College, ETH Zürich, and the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in Bonn.
